How these lines are chosen

Among 7 products and 7 retailer listings we track; Amazon and Walmart are not included. A month is thirty doses of the size in the heading, priced the same way as the per-dose figure beside it. “Delivery known” ranks only products whose retailer publishes a delivery rate; a cheaper product with an unpublished rate is on its own line, or in the full list below. No product here that clears every other bar publishes a delivery rate below its free-delivery threshold, so the pick is priced before delivery.

Why this pick

Not a score, no weightings to argue with. It is the cheapest certified option, at this exact package where the certifier names packages, with no recall, warning letter or failed test in the sources we checked, a price its retailer let us read within its cache limit, and no more than a year's supply at the label's serving, priced before delivery: no certified product here publishes a delivery rate below its free-delivery threshold, so what you pay depends on your cart. It is provisional: it is the best answer within the products, retailers and sources we have actually checked, and that universe is still narrow.

How these lines are chosen

Among 4 products and 4 retailer listings we track; Amazon and Walmart are not included. A month is thirty doses of the size in the heading, priced the same way as the per-dose figure beside it. “Delivery known” ranks only products whose retailer publishes a delivery rate; a cheaper product with an unpublished rate is on its own line, or in the full list below.

Why this pick

Not a score, no weightings to argue with. It is the cheapest per delivered dose among products clearing four factual bars (a certification we confirmed applies to this package, naming it where the certifier names packages; no recall, warning letter or failed test in the sources we checked; a price its retailer let us read within its cache limit; no more than a year's supply at the label's serving) and whose delivery cost we actually know. It is provisional: it is the best answer within the products, retailers and sources we have actually checked, and that universe is still narrow.

Powders and pills are each ranked on their own, priced per 3 g of beta-alanine as each panel prints it. The 3 g is a yardstick for comparing prices, not a suggested dose.

Common questions

Which beta-alanine brands are third-party tested?
Every beta-alanine we price, grouped by whether a certifier names the exact package sold, lists it without confirming it, or lists nothing we found.
What is the cheapest NSF certified beta-alanine?
Every beta-alanine we track whose exact package NSF Certified for Sport names, ranked per 3 g within each format. Each price says whether it includes delivery.
Do third-party tested supplements cost more?
Per category, the cheapest product we track beside the cheapest a certifier names at the exact package, if any, within one format and, where it matters, one strength.
Is BulkSupplements third party tested?
Every BulkSupplements product we track, by whether a certifier names the exact package sold, only another size, or nothing we found. With listing IDs.
Is Thorne third party tested?
Every Thorne product we price, checked in NSF’s Certified for Sport database: which listing names the exact package sold, with the listing IDs.
Which supplements are NSF Certified for Sport?
Every package we price that NSF names in its Certified for Sport database, by category, with the listing IDs and what each listing actually covers.
Do supplement prices actually change?
We keep every price reading we take: daily where a store can be read automatically, less often where it is read by hand. Which prices have moved since we started, which have not, and by how much.
How many capsules is one serving?
How many pills the label calls one serving, across every capsule, tablet and softgel we have a price for, and what that does to the count on the front of the bottle.

Every beta-alanine question in one place

About these numbers

What “per dose” means here: 3g beta-alanine

3 g is the serving the BulkSupplements and Nutricost powder panels print, a round figure chosen so packages of different serving sizes can be priced on one basis. NIH Office of Dietary Supplements describes studies in which young men took 1.6 to 6.4 g of beta-alanine a day, in two to four separate servings. The 3 g is a yardstick for comparing prices, not a recommended intake or serving, and it cannot change which product is cheapest: it scales every row by the same number. Packages are ranked one format at a time and never across formats. Adopted on October 31, 2026, when the category was built.

Compared on the grams of beta-alanine the Supplement Facts panel prints, never on a scoop, capsule or tablet weight. Carnosine is a different compound and is not entered here, and neither are pre-workout formulas in which beta-alanine is one ingredient among several. A beta-alanine product whose panel also prints a second dietary ingredient with its own amount is entered and marked, as elsewhere on this site.

Where the data comes from
Every claim links to its source. Products, prices and certification listings are read from the retailers' own stores and the certifiers' own databases, and each figure links to the record it came from, so you can check any of them.
  • Where a servings-per-container figure was not read from the package's own panel, the product page says how it was worked out.
  • Amazon and Walmart are not included, so “cheapest” means cheapest among the retailers we track.
  • Prices go stale. Each one shows when it was last checked, and says so when it is older than the retailer allows us to cache it.
  • iHerb prices cannot be refreshed automatically. iHerb has not given us access to its price data, so those prices are marked stale until they are re-read. Each retailer offer carries its own check date.

How we make money

No Buy button on this page earns us anything. Where a link elsewhere on the site can, it says so beside the link.

Commission will play no part in what we list, how it ranks, or which link we send you to. The Buy button points at the lowest price we have recorded even when that retailer pays us nothing.
