Magnesium Oxide

The densest and cheapest source of elemental magnesium per capsule, and the least absorbable. Price per dose flatters it; that is the point of showing it.

About these numbers

What “per dose” means here — 200mg elemental magnesium

200 mg of elemental magnesium is roughly half the adult RDA and is a common single-serving strength, which makes it a convenient common denominator across salts that carry very different amounts of magnesium per gram. It is a unit of comparison, not a recommended intake.

Compared on elemental magnesium. Oxide carries more magnesium per gram than any common form, which is why it produces a low cost per dose; absorption is a separate question this figure does not answer.

How reliable is this data?
Public beta — real data, mostly not yet human-verified. These products, prices and certification listings were collected from NSF's Certified for Sport database, the LGC Informed database, iHerb and BulkSupplements. Every claim links to the source it came from, and you are welcome to check any of them.
  • Servings per container are derived from net weight rather than read off the label, except where a note on the product says otherwise.
  • Most source records have not been checked by a person. The ones that have say so.
  • Amazon and Walmart are not included, so “cheapest” means cheapest among the retailers we track.
  • Prices go stale. Each one shows when it was last checked, and says so when it is older than the retailer allows us to cache it.

How we make money

Right now, nothing on this page earns us anything. We have applied to affiliate programs but none is live yet, so every “Buy” button is a plain retailer link. When that changes, each link will say what it earns us, on the link itself.

Commission will play no part in what we list, how it ranks, or which link we send you to — the Buy button points at the lowest price we have recorded even when that retailer pays us nothing.
